Happy 5th Anniversary Starving Artist CAFE! 2/7/09
It was a Saturday. It was February 7. On the 40th anniversary of the day the Beatles landed in America, the Starving Artist recreated itself as a CAFE and gallery.
Elliott Glick, a musician himself, decided that another group of artists -- music-artists -- needed a place to showcase their art. And, five years later, on another Saturday and another February 7, we celebrated the hundreds of performances by the many talented music-artists who have graced our stage and filled our minds and hearts with their music.
Check out the slideshow of that weekend's anniversary show (from Saturday, February 7, 2009) by the Starving Artist himself, Elliott Glick (to the right). Below are several videos from that night, including some first-time released songs by Glick. THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Thanks to all who came out and celebrated with us on February 7 - and to all who have given us their love and support these past five years! Here's to more years of music filled nights and afternoons at Starving Artist!
Check out our newly launched Starving Artist MySpace as well; there's a great slideshow there of our performances from the past five years (2004 to 2009) at the end of the write-up on the cafe / gallery. If you have a photo of a some Starving Artist music, e-mail it to us!
Finally, read a poem by Ellen Ruth Topol, written for the occasion of our fifth anniversary and read by the author at our anniversary celebration; see below. Thanks again, Ellen!
